It was a pretty quiet year, relatively speaking. Only 457 Palestinians and 10 Israelis were killed, according to the B'Tselem human rights organization, including the victims of Qassam rockets. Fewer casualties than in many previous years. However, it was still a terrible year: 92 Palestinian children were killed (fortunately, not a single Israeli child was killed by Palestinians, despite the Qassams). One-fifth of the Palestinians killed were children and teens - a disproportionate, almost unprecedented number. The Jewish year of 5767. Almost 100 children, who were alive and playing last New Year, didn't survive to see this one.

Security is one of the most common arguments for crimes against humanity. The next step is arguing for killing all the Palestinians (actually it is already being done -- I read Hebrew). And the two wrongs make a right argument is very commonly made. Lerner in Tikkun Magazine (the liberal Jewish magazine in contrast to Commentary or FrontPage) calls it affirmative action for Jews.

I said the exact opposite. European Jews did not deserve the treatment they got because of Soviet atrocities.

I do admit that I understand why lots of Europeans began to fear Jews during the 20s and 30s. Lots of Jews outside the Soviet Union expressed unqualified support for the Communists.

Yet, I also remember Mussolini and Horthy (the right-wing Hungarian dictator) told their populations that mistreating Italian or Hungarian Jews because of the crimes of Soviet Jews was wrong. Unfortunately, lots of Jews worked very hard to make non-Jews suspicious of them. The Sulzbergers (at the NY Times) actively covered up the role of Jews in Soviet atrocities instead of doing the right thing and condemning Jews that took part in such crimes. How could such behavior not create animosity -- just as the ongoing coverup and denial of Israeli atrocities today creates perfectly understandable animosity towards Jews?

The Sulzbergers then went onto bury the Holocaust in the backpages of the NY Times, and the organized Jewish community works hard to make American non-Jews feel guilty about this today!?!

ah, dismissing the possiblity that what you say may seem fanatical because you are right Right RIGHT....you miss my point. To my knowledge many American jews saw/see Israel as a place where there could be "safe" period....they are not argueing that two wrongs make a right. Oh, and by the way, inferring that civilian jews in Germany, Poland, etc. deserved imprisonment, starvation and murder because of the atrocities that other Jews committed....which you go and on about is the same thing - you take the position that this second wrong (and it was wrong) was justifiable and understandable.

It is an issue of the debasement of public discourse in the USA.

It is hard to be more extreme or fanatic than to believe that Central and Eastern Europeans had the right to steal Palestine from the native population on the basis of the etymological connection of "Jew" to "Judea."

It is equivalent to believing that the Irish would have the right to steal Rome and cleanse the city ethnically because of the morphological connection of the city's name to "Roman" in "Roman Catholic."

I know that Zionists try to throw in the Holocaust as a justification to argue that two wrongs make a right, but an Irishman that wanted to claim Rome could then argue from the Potato Famines, which were at the very least exacerbated by British government policy.

American non-Jews and opponents of Zionism have to develop some guts to stand up to nonsensical Jewish or Zionist victimological reasoning.

Personally, I think it's better to be effective. Focus on America and what's best for America....etc etc. If you can download the segment on last week's Real Time w/Bill Maher when he interviews General Schoen...I believe that's the name.... you will see someone being effective....at least I think so. Maher is totallly sympathetic to Israel, believing the crap that they taught everyone in 6th grade....ie the democracy in the middle east and how important Israel is....Schoen responds that he could care less whether Israel is there are not (or words to that effect) saying what happens in/to Israel is not worth one American life. Maher is left kinda speechless

ya' gotta be careful the way that you present it. First people have to see the problem in the first place and then you can draw the trajectory line to the people who promote the problem. Also, if you want to sever the Israel as part of American foreign policy you have to focus on that, not indict for trying to make the tie part of the policy 'cause in a way than it does enter into the US foreign policy equation......where it does not belong

Actually, we do indict people for conspiracy against rights when there is a conspiracy to deprive a group of Americans of their civil and constitutional rights -- Title 18 USC Section 241.

In time of war conspiracy against rights, which may evolve into an attempt to put down the US government, may graduate into seditious conspiracy. It is not always the case, but these guys all insist that we are waging a declared "War on Terror."

The whole civil rights vs personal freedom area has always been an area of constitutional tension. I am trying to suggest that the Israel Lobby and large segments of the organized Jewish community may have crossed the line during the declared war.
