Islam in Europe: Norway: New religion class books drop Christian date count

In this article a spokesman for Norwegian Muslims criticizes the use of BCE and CE in place of BC and AD in Western-style dates. No one should be surprised. Jews have a problem with the identification of Jesus as the Christ or Messiah, but believing Jesus is the Messiah is an essential element of Islam.

    I thought Jesus was merely a prophet in Islam, not the Messiah.

    Quran 5:75 is one of nine verses that explicitly refer to Jesus as the Messiah (المسيح‎, al-Masīḥ equivalent to מָׁשִיַח, Standard Mašíaḥ Tiberian Māšîªḥ).
