Mizrahi Rejects Anti-Arab Bait

Talks About Yeshiva, Doesn't Demonize

I listened to Isaac Mizrahi on Having Style | WBUR and NPR's On Point with Tom ... on the way to work today.

During the interview Tom Ashbrook posed(at 38'50") the following request that came to the program as email:

Although this show is about fashion ….Maybe he can talk about his family history and Syrian Jews …and Jews kicked out of Arab countries …..

The above is just another example of the never-ending effort of American Zionists to validate their worldview and to enmesh Americans in Zionist bigotry and racism.

To his credit, fashion designer Mizrahi refused the bait and changed the topic to the Yeshiva of Flatbush and the treatment of women in the Syrian Jewish (SY) community of Brooklyn

For more information about SYs, see The SY Empire.

I mentioned the interest of evolutionary psychologist Kevin MacDonald in SYs in Is Kevin MacDonald a Racialist?

Note that Ashbrook accepted irrelevant Arabophobic input for the Mizrahi interview, but his screeners rejected any discussion of the anomaly of US pro-Israel politics when Ashbrook interviewed Bill Bishop about Bishop's new book entitled The Big Sort.

In contrast, probably because the temporary host Jennifer Westaway was Canadian and not socialized to American media culture that forbids any critical discussion of either Zionism or Jews, I was able to inject a relevant issue of Zionist racism and criminality on The Connection during an interview of Ari Shavit in 2005.

fyi - mizrahi and i were bar mitzvahed the same day at the same synagogue.

sadly, he plays no active role in the community which has its ambivalence about him - on the one hand he is despised as a homosexual, but on the other he is a media star and a success at what he does - so the SYs love him and hate him in varying measure.

i do not think that he would be interested at all in Sefardic or traditional Jewish studies - he lives in a very different world.
