Ghada Karmi Tour Reminder

Dear Friend,

Time is running out to book world-renowned commentator and author Ghada Karmi on her upcoming North American Tour! A powerful and eloquent speaker, Karmi will be touring theUnited States from September 24 - October 10, 2009, speaking on the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict. Organized by the Palestine Freedom Project, her tour coincides with the release of a second edition of her memoir In Search of Fatima. As Edward Said eloquently articulated, "Ghada Karmi's stunning memoir is remarkable. Extraordinarily well-written, it is the amazingly honest story of a Palestinian woman of incredible self-awareness. Hers is a story of exile and displacement... rich in detail and human experience. Karmi is excellent on the quality of family and even communal life in Mandatory Palestine... she also has a wonderfully subtle way of showing how in thousands of different ways the political and personal intermesh, and she does this with a skill and insight that could be a novelist's envy."

Ghada Karmi Tour: Book Now

Born in Jerusalem, Karmi was forced to leave as a child in 1948 and grew up in Britain where she became a physician, academic, and writer. Karmi writes powerfully and honestly, reminding us that the only crime the Palestinians committed was to be born in Palestine. Very few disapora Palestinians have written memoirs as intimate as Karmi's frank account of her life: her childhood in Palestine, the flight to Britain after the catastrophe of 1948, and coming of age in the coffee-bars of Golders Green, the middle-class Jewish quarter in North London. Karmi also penned Married to Another Man: Israel's Dilemma in Palestine, in which she demonstrates with relentless lucidity how terribly exhausted the diplomatic and political pursuit of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has become.
