Heine and the Ethnic Ashkenazim Against Zionist Israel Blog 

Princess Sabbath (Prinzessin Sabbath) vs. Schiller's Ode to Joy (An der Freude)

Heinrich Heine's poem Prinzessin Sabbath is the most outstanding commemoration of the Shabbat in German literature.

 

Once upon a time Jews actually understood parody and irony – probably before they began starving peasants in the Ukraine, terrorizing Palestinians, and plotting the incineration of Arab and Muslim countries.

 

Harvard Professor Jack Stein once told me that Heine was the most German and the most Jewish of poets, but neither German Christians nor Ostjuden (Eastern European Jews) ever understood him.

 

Heine wrote in Nachtgedanken (Thoughts at Night):

 

I think of Germany at night
The thought keeps me awake till light.

 

Denk ich an Deutschland in der Nacht,
Dann bin ich um den Schlaf gebracht,
Ich kann nicht mehr die Augen schließen,
Und meine heißen Tränen fließen.

 

He also described ancient Hebrews as "the Germans of the Orient."

 

In the quest to connect themselves with ancient Hebrews (as the German Nazis tried to connect themselves with ancient Germans), Zionists have surpassed the German Nazis of the 1930s and are working on the 1940s.

 

I often wonder what Heine would be writing if he were alive today.

I maintain the blog for Jews opposed to Zionism. Because I write harsh things on my blog, I like to remind myself and anti-Zionist Jews that German Jews produced something other than the sick eugenic theories of Max Nordau and the esoteric racism of Martin Buber.

Yes, of course. There was a group of Germans who, like Heine, adored French culture, were cosmopolitan in outlook, wrote poems about Greek sensualism and even, in Heine's case, ridiculed rabbis. Could anything be more different from Polish Jewish culture of the period?

Like you, I am an admirer of HH.
I am also a veteran (with written evidence since 1970) critic of our Israeli policies.

And strange enough, I am also a Zionist.

Still, I am not sure that you have answered my question...

I first started to work with Israeli defense corporations in the 1990s.

After a few years, I began to see a disconnect between what I had learned about Israel and Palestinians from US media and what was actually taking place in Israel and the occupied territories. I began to study Israeli and Jewish history. I realized that my education had for the most part been propaganda and that Zionism, with which I had sympathized, really belonged to the same class of Central and Eastern European genocidal ethnic fundamentalisms to which German Nazism belongs.

Because I now probably know more about Eastern European ethnic Ashkenazi history, Zionist ideology and the Classical through Medieval history of Judaism than practically anyone else, I am doing penance for ever sympathizing with Zionism by running a group dedicated to separating facts from fiction about Israel, Zionism, Ashkenazi history and Judaism.

I hope to make a small contribution to the peaceful dismantlement of the Zionism state and the establishment of an international tribunal to try the Israeli and international Zionist leadership for crimes against humanity.

Heine would almost certainly have despised Zionism and would have written the perfect epitaph for its tomb.
