Eric Cohen vs. Eric Cohen

Correcting an Old Error

The Massachusetts Coalition to "save" Darfur's Eric Cohen is apparently not the same person as the "bioethics" / Bill Kristol-associate Eric Cohen afterall. He is still really bad though

I appear to have goofed.

Here is the bioethics Eric Cohen from http://politics.bioethics.net/

Eric Cohen
Director
Biotechnology & American Democracy

 is the SaveDarfur Eric Cohen.

In a message dated 03/16/08 12:05:11 Eastern Daylight Time, David writes:
Hi Joachim. I need to know how you know that MA Coalition to "Save" Darfur's Eric Cohen is the same Eric Cohen who is associated with Kristol and who founded the New Atlantis magazine and is with the Ethics & Public Policy Center.

According to http://www.eaazi.org/ThorsProvoni/Darfur/FifthQuestion.htm

Eric Cohen is :

    • Co-Chairman of the MA Coalition to Save Darfur,
    • founder and Editor-at-Large of The New Atlantis,
    • an adjunct fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center,
    • a contributor to the flagship Neoconservative periodical The Weekly Standard, and
    • a collaborator with the preeminent Neoconservative intellectual William Kristol in editing The Future is Now: America Confronts the New Genetics (see http://tinyurl.com/2sxn6h),

So I'm googling more to figure out what all those things are, but would still appreciate more info from Joachim.

It makes sense, but how do we know it is the same Eric Cohen chairing MA Coalition to "Save" Darfur and other associations?

The association with William Kristol is damning as Kristol is a founder of Project for the New American Century. But I don't have an analysis of the technology stuff they are working on.

But wikipedia for New Atlantis Magazine has:

"New Atlantis magazine
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The New Atlantis magazine, founded in 2003, is a journal about the social and political dimensions of science and technology. Published by the conservative Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, D.C., the journal is a quarterly, and consists of serious essays on a variety of science and technology issues as well as a summary of recent events produced by the editors. The journal has earned a reputation as a neoconservative publication, in the mold of Leon Kass and William Kristol, who have both been published in its pages. It is edited by technology expert Adam Keiper, having formerly been edited by conservative writer Eric Cohen."
