Aafia Siddiqui and "Islamist Threat"

Dr. Aafia Siddiqui at her graduation from M.I.T.
MuslimMatters.Org is hosting an important discussion of Aafia Siddiqui inAafia Siddiqui’s story… Farfetched? Not according to a declassified DoD Inspector General’s report.

Commentator Muhammad Khan asks why the US government focused on Aafia.

1. If we dismiss the testimony of Khaled Shaykh Mohammed and Muhammad Amjad Khan as the result of torture and of the vindictiveness of a former husband* respectively,

2. if we look at Boston-Newton Jewish Zionist politics from the 1990s through 9/11, and

3. if we maintain a proper skepticism about BBC reports that can be connected with the War on Terrorism and Zionist politics (Followup: BBC and Gaza Charity Appeal),

we can then focus without distraction on the Islamic threat-mongers that needed someone to connect the dots of various Zionism-inspired Islamophobic fantasies.

To make a long story short, the Zionist leadership opportunistically used Aafia to perpetrate an almost invisible coup against the Constitution in order to cower American Muslims and to incinerate one Arab or Muslim country after another.

Patterns of Boston Jewish Power helps explain the origins of the Aafia Siddiqui case in the overheated cauldron of Boston-area ethnic politics.

Because Aafia had the temerity to be an openly and enthusiastically Muslim at Brandeis, where she did her PhD research in cognitive neuroscience focused on children, a vicious Muslim-hating segment of Newton Jews mobbed and smeared her in a campaign rather like those to which Yousef Abou Allaban, Daniel Maldonado, and Tarek Mehanna*** have been subjected.

In addition, Aafia's story must be put in the context of American Jewish Zionist fears about Pakistani Americans, who were moving up economically in the 90s and beginning to become politically assertive in the aftermath of the Soviet departure from Afghanistan and increasing Bosnia activism.

Both Afghanistan and Bosnia activism (and later Chechnya) were licit Islamic causes that had pro-Muslim and pro-Palestinian drag on the Israel-Palestine conflict.

American Zionists and in particular Newton Jews, who include major players within the Zionist plutocracy and intelligentsia, feared losing control over ME foreign policy discourse.

Transforming the Israel-Palestine or Israel-Arab conflict into a civilization conflict between Islam and America solved the problem of demonizing and marginalizing Pakistani Americans.

Daniel Pipes had been working on the concept since the early 80s. By the late 1980s there was already something of an Islamic threat cottage industry, which was fueled by Jewish Zionist fears about the growth of Islamic Charities, Islamic investments, and Islamic Think Tanks.

Jewish Zionist Islamophobes found a lot of difficulty getting traction from the American public, which generally had high regard for Pakistani immigrants, and Steven Emerson even temporarily scorched marketing efforts by accusing Islamic terrorists of the Oklahoma bombing.

Increasing anger at the USA because of Iraq sanctions and Zionist abuse of Palestinians as well as possible incitement by agents provocateurs working for the Israeli government created incidents that restored some credibility to Islamic threat-mongers.

When 9/11 took place, the Islamophobes sped into action.

Aafia Siddiqui was used to link all the various Newton Jew phobias together because her Islamic activism almost made it possible for the David Project and friends to connect the Islamic Society of Boston, the Muslim American Society, Benevolence International Foundation (BIF) and other Islamic groups.

BIF was particularly important to the Neocon effort to create an equivalence of the US War on Terror with the Zionist War on Palestine.

Because Neocon logic treats any assistance to Palestinians as aid to Hamas,** BIF's many offices throughout the world and working relationship with the Holy Land Foundation created an opportunity to fabricate a Hamas link with the Neocon fantasy of a united worldwide terrorist conspiracy.

To complete the scary story, Boston-area Jewish Zionist groups planted the false stories

1. of Aafia's work in microbiology and
2. of various connections with Khaled Shaykh Muhammad (KSM).

Even though Aafia was not really involved in anything, Zionist propagandists have been using her for the last 8 years as a key connector element in the world jihadist threat narrative,
After rewriting Aafia as a potential bio-terrorist with links both to KSM and also to Islamic charities alleged to be terrorist fronts, she became at least as important for "connecting the dots" of the world Islamist threat as the Golden Chain Letter, which was flawed for Neocon purposes because it dated to a time period when the USA and Usama bin Ladin were opposing the same Soviet foe in Afghanistan.

Neocon subversives in the US government brought Aafia back into the limelight in 2008 when the hold of the Zionist Islamophobic frame over the American public began to weaken, and Neocon subversives thought it would be useful to advertise her capture to show that the War on Terrorism was producing results.***

I have a lot of supporting material on my website Ethnic Ashkenazim Against Zionist Israel, but unfortunately a lot of the material still needs to be put into a coherent form.

To understand the current situation, I recommend the following blog entries as a start:

Notes

* MA Khan might also have reason to cooperate in falsely implicating Aafia because otherwise he might himself be at risk of disappearing into some sort of secret detention center.
** Newton Jew Matthew Levitt formally described the nonsensical reasoning behind this claim in Hamas, Politics, Terrorism, and Charity in the Service of Jihad.
*** On account of the support that Aafia has received from Pakistan and the Pakistani Diaspora, more people have analyzed the accusations against her.

Because of the increasing public realization of the ridiculousness of the charges, Newton Jew Zionists are desperately seeking a new connector element for their scare-mongering.

Here is the latest effort.

Home-grown terrorists?
By Charles Jacobs and Ilya Feoktistov

Two weeks ago, a Sudbury resident, Tarek Mehanna was arrested on terrorism charges. According to the FBI, he and his friends had sought terrorist training in places like Pakistan, and together they plotted to machine gun random shoppers at a local shopping mall here in New England.

The images these reports evoke (blood, panic, screams at a mall near you) bring to mind scenes from last year's Mumbai massacre in India where other young men, trained and sent by the Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba terror group, gunned down innocents with automatic weapons in public places.

Apart from the method of murder, and the request for Pakistani training, could there possibly be any other connection between an arrest in Sudbury and the massacre in Mumbai? Why would a seemingly successful American teenager seek terrorist training in Pakistan?

On paper, Tarek Mehanna seems an American success story. Born here to the family of an Egyptian immigrant chemistry professor, he was raised in the Boston suburbs and earned a doctorate from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy.

A practicing Muslim, Mehanna taught science and religion at Alhuda Academy, which adjoins the Worcester Islamic Center. But it was at the Islamic Center of New England in Sharon, according to The Boston Globe, that Mehanna met Ahmad Abousamra, with whom the FBI alleges he plotted the terrorist attack.

Abousamara, too, seemed to be headed for an American middle class life. He attended Stoughton and Xaverian Brothers high schools and he was on the dean's list at Northeastern University. His father, an immigrant from Syria, was a prominent doctor at Mass General.

But somewhere along the way, Abousamra appears to have become a radical. According to the affidavit filed by FBI, he believed that his religion justified killing American shoppers "because they were Kuffar" (non-believers). According to the FBI, Abousamara sought terrorism training in Pakistan with Lashkar-e-Taiba, though he was rejected because he was an Arab and not Pakistani. Shortly after the FBI first questioned him, Abousamara fled to Syria.

His father, Abdul-Badi Abousamra, was a prominent leader in the Muslim community. In 1994, he joined the Islamic Center of New England, becoming its president in 1998. The older Abousamra's passion lay with educating the center's youth. He established two schools there: the Islamic Academy of New England and Al Noor Academy.

Shortly after he became the center's president, he hired Hafiz Mohammed Masood, then a dropout from Boston University's economics program. Masood served as the Imam at the center and taught at its schools. Masood was eventually arrested and deported for immigration fraud, at which point it was revealed that he was the brother of Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, the founder of Lashkar-e- Taibah. After the Mumbai attacks, the Times of India cited its sources as saying that Masood, together with his Worcester-based brother Hafiz Mohammad Hamid (who was also deported for immigration fraud) were here to live "as imams and preach and raise funds for jihad."

(There is an interesting side story about Masood: He came to the aid of the Sharon Jewish community and helped them wash off a swastika from their synagogue, thereby winning the hearts of many local Jews who defend him to this day.)

As for Abdul-Badi Abousamra, he became the vice president of the Muslim American Society's Boston branch, which runs the largest Islamic center in the northeast at its Roxbury location. The society is controversial: according to federal prosecutors, it is the American face of the Muslim Brotherhood, the oldest radical Islamic organization in existence and the origin of groups like Al Qaeda and Hamas. Abousamra left for Detroit in early 2007, shortly after his son was interviewed by the FBI.

We do not know enough to fully understand the web of relationships among entities in the Middle East, in Pakistan, some of the newly established American Islamic institutions and the recent FBI arrests. The facts seem to be calling for more questions.

What happened to these young men? Is the historically moderate Boston Muslim community being radicalized? What is being taught in Islamic schools and centers? Who is funding these efforts?

Stay tuned.

Here is the reality from the Free Tarek Mehanna Petition.

Tarek Mehanna is a 27 year old Muslim Egyptian American born and raised in the United States. Highly educated, Tarek holds a doctorate in pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. He is a devout and tolerant Muslim who is not only respected in the local Islamic and interfaith communities, but who also gives back to his Islamic community by fulfilling the roles of brother, educator, mentor, scholar, and friend. Tarek is described by those who know him well as humble, reserved, warm, peaceful, intelligent, knowledgeable, reflective, pragmatic, dedicated, and straightforward. He is a person with strong ethical values who refuses to compromise on them regardless of the circumstances. It is unfortunate then that this customarily admirable trait plays a role in his current situation.

Several years ago, the Boston FBI began to approach Tarek. They recognized that he was a religious Muslim who was active in the local Islamic community, had earned the respect of many, and was beloved to the youth. The FBI recognized in Tarek an individual who is intelligent, charismatic, influential and trusted by many in the local Islamic community. They decided that they wanted Tarek on their side, and began to approach him in an effort to recruit him as an informant. Their objective was to secure Tarek as a tool to corroborate any FBI claims or accusations against members of the community that might arise, at the discretion of the FBI. Of course, Tarek flat out refused to backstab his fellow Muslim brothers and sisters, a decision that did not sit well at all with the FBI.

The FBI then proceeded to repeatedly approach Tarek over the coming months, each time pressuring him more and more to collaborate with them. This pressure most often came in the form of blackmail; Tarek was told that unless he consented to cooperating with the FBI, they would continue finding new ways to disrupt his life and to deprive him of a sense of security. He was told outright by interrogators that they knew he was innocent, but that they would not be satisfied with his refusal to cooperate. Regardless of whether their methods were unethical, coercive, or failed to respect his civil rights, the FBI were quite fortunate in catching an opportunity to arrest Tarek in 2008 based on a weak accusation of issuing "false statements" to a federal officer. After two months of imprisonment, his court-appointed attorney, Jay Carney, jr., was able to negotiate a bail settlement of $1,250,000. Tarek was subsequently released after this absurdly inflated amount was paid by his parents, who were desperate to have him return home safely.

Tarek did return home for nearly a year, living a quiet life, restricted by a court-ordered curfew, and monitored by FBI investigators. In the meantime, the case against him, based on "false testimony" charges, began to stagnate, and court dates were far and in between with no advances made by the FBI. Over time, the Mehanna family began to finally feel a sense of restored normalcy and stability in their lives. This feeling was suddenly and violently shattered during the fajr hours of September 21st, 2009, when FBI agents showed up at the Mehanna home doorstep at 5:00AM in the morning. Despite the lack of ANY new evidence since the prior arrest, the agents came with an arrest warrant. According to Dr. Ahmed Mehanna, Tarek's father, the agents were visibly excited and enthusiastic about their invasion of the Mehanna private household and the seizure and arrest of Tarek. The situation facing Tarek now is one where his second arrest means that there is no chance for bail. Tarek is currently incarcerated at the Plymouth Correctional Facility, where he is expected to remain for the several year duration of a new trial based on outright FALSE AND LUDICROUS accusations of aiding and abetting terrorism. He currently faces LIFE IN PRISON if convicted guilty in a trial by grand jury. We must offer our greatest support and most dedicated effort if there is to be hope of Tarek's release. Thank you for taking the time to read this history, and we are confident that you will share our knowledge of Tarek's innocence. In addition, it is our sincere hope that the United States justice system remain true to its "innocent until proven guilty" origins, and for Tarek to receive a fair and just trial.
